Arrests Made in Diamond City Fire

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office announces Wednesday two arrests in connection with the April 26 fire at the Sugarloaf Waste Water Treatment facility in Diamond City.

According to Sheriff Roy Martin, investigators arrested two juvenile suspects for arson at the Sugarloaf facility. Investigators believe the juveniles involved may also be responsible for additional residential arsons and break-ins in the area.

On the night of April 26 at approximately 9:02, the Boone County 911 call center received notification the Sugarloaf Waste Water Treatment facility, located in Diamond City was on fire. Diamond City, Lead Hill and Bergman Fire Departments responded along with Diamond City Police Chief Troy Burleson. The fire was contained and extinguished due to the efforts by the three local fire departments and their volunteer fire fighters.

Chief Burleson contacted the Boone County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in the investigation of the fire which resulted with evidence suggesting the fire was intentionally set. Through the course of the criminal investigation, two juvenile suspects were identified.
