A bill filed for consideration by Arkansas Lawmakers in 2025 looks to increase safety at school by focusing on violent behavior.
The Teacher and Student Act proposal would put a system in place that a student who exhibits violent behavior or makes threats against a teacher or student would put in an alternative school while the case is being reviewed. The process would keep the student accused of the behavior in school but away from the victim.
Students who have three or more instances of violent or abusive behavior in a school year could be placed in an alternative learning environment for the remainder of the school year, or even face expulsion according to the proposed law.
