Friday Holiday Tournament Basketball Results Include Branson Teams Avenging Losses

The Branson Boys and Girls Basketball teams had identical scenarios in their respective Holiday Tournament Games Friday night as both were facing teams they had lost to last week.

Both teams responded with victories on Friday night. Recaps of those and other tournament games covered by MOARK Sports are below:

Lendel Thomas Classic
After the Harrison Lady Goblins edged out the Lady Pirates in their match-up in Branson last week, the two teams met in the LT Classic Semifinals in Goblin Arena Friday night. In this match-up, the Lady Pirates used a late second quarter surge then held the Lady Goblins in check for the rest of the way in securing the 46-33 win. Angel Craigg led a balanced Branson scoring attack with 11 points as the Lady Pirates will move on to play Bergman in the title game this afternoon at 5:30 while the Lady Goblins will play Earle for 3rd Place at 2:50. Both games can be heard on MOARK Sports.

Meanwhile, the Goblin Boys won their area match-up with Valley Springs, knocking off the Tigers 89-46 behind the 33 points scored by Ryder Scribner. The Goblins will face another group of Tigers tonight as Carthage held off Bergman in the other semi-final to challenge the Goblins in the Championship Game at 7:00 on MOARK Sports. Both Harrison Games can also be heard on 94.9 KHOZ.

Blue and Gold
The Branson Pirates had the memory of losing to the Ozark Tigers just a week ago in Branson, but also the memory of defeating the Tigers in the Blue and Gold Quarterfinals last year. In that case, history did repeat itself as the Pirates held off the Tigers 52-50 in this year's Blue Division Quarterfinal at Great Southern Bank Arena. The game though had a similar feel to last week's contest in that the Pirates built a big lead only to see the Tigers come back. This time however, the Tigers never took the lead late though they did tie the game with 38 second to go. Jayce Culver was fouled going to the basket with 1.8 seconds left to secure the victory. Culver led the Pirates with 19 points as they move on to play Rogersville in this evening's 8:30 semi-final. The game can be heard on the Perry Phillips Channel at MOARK Sports.

In other Blue and Gold Action, the Reeds Spring Wolves were eliminated by Miller in a Gold Division Consolation Game 69-33.

Other Action
The Forsyth Panthers rebound after an opening loss at the Bad Boys Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Tournament in Highland Friday, defeating the Jonesboro JV  67-36 while Lee County knocked off the Forsyth JV 61-27. Both Forsyth squads will play their final games of the tournament today.

At the Walnut Grove Boys Tournament, Hollister edges out Pierce City 54-53 and will advance to the 5th Place final on Monday.

Today at Walnut Grove, Blue Eye will play Fordland in the 3rd Place game at 6:00.
