Dr. Lisa G. Williams was born on March 28, 1961, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Ed and Sue Williams. She went to meet her Savior and was made whole again on November 14, 2024. She was the youngest of three children. She had a brother Larry and a sister Lucrisia. Her final wish was to pass away in Western Grove with her family.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents Dewey Edward Willians and Sue Fincher Williams Hoppis. Her mom had just preceded her in death three months and five days before. Her brother Larry Williams, grandparents Arlis and Ruby Williams, Roy and Elverne Goodner, great grandmother Carrie “MoMo” Easterling Shipp Boles and special friend Ginger Hurst.

Lisa is survived by her dad Reed “Sonny” Hoppis of Western Grove, Arkansas, her sister Lucrisia “Cris” (Ron) Honeycutt of Eros, Arkansas, nieces Tori (Randy) Light of Eros, Arkansas, Amy Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana and her nephew Jonathan Williams of Austin, Texas. Also, Lisa leaves behind 4 great nieces, one great nephew, 3 great great nieces and 5 great great nephews whom she loved dearly. She had an extended family of friends that she cherished, an adopted sister Janice Thompson of Richland, Michigan and other special friends Patty Bollheimer, Julie Lanier, Kayla Villines, Mellisa Martin, Mark (Ellie) Rainey, Grant (Sherry) Iverson, Julie and Ginger, Roger Cornelius, Tammy Brown, Eva Sagan and family and so many many more!!! Also, her family and church family were very important to her.

She was saved and baptized at the age of 6 and was fully aware of her salvation and her love for Jesus, even as a child. Her current place of worship was Family Worship Center Church of God in Comstock, Michigan. Pastor Eric (Tina) Rogers visited with Lisa just days before she came home to Arkansas.

Lisa graduated from Magnolia High School with honors and received her bachelor’s and master’s from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas in Human Performance and Recreation. Lisa then went on to The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and obtained a Doctorate in Kinesiology with honors. She loved teaching. Lisa was a member of Phi Delta kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, Mu Alpha Theta and ATE.

While in Hattiesburg teaching, Hurricane Katrina came through and Lisa was recognized and received the Katrina Award for service to the school districts and people on the coast. She helped in the recovery process so children could continue their education. Also, Lisa received the Dean’s Award for outstanding service as Chair of the Student Teaching Department at USM. She developed and ran a state approved student teaching office at Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Lisa strived to help students in every way she could, one way was expanding the overseas student teaching opportunities.

Lisa loved playing the guitar and singing. She could play almost any instrument she picked up. Lisa was blessed to be a part of her church’s worship team. She enjoyed photography, collecting rocks, meeting new people and caring for her friends. She loved to travel and went overseas many times supervising student teachers and presenting educational research. One of her last bucket list items was going on a cruise. She was able to fulfill this dream in September. The cruise went to Honduras and ports in between, Lisa enjoyed it with some of her best friends. She was always curious and fun. Lisa loved the outdoors and everything to do with camping, fishing and boating. She was a lifeguard and taught people to swim in her younger years. She lived a large life!!!

Lisa was a very spiritual lady and loved to talk about Jesus to everyone she met, even through all her health issues her faith NEVER wavered. She is at peace, and it has given us peace, knowing she is with God walking those streets of gold.

A Celebration of Life is planned for November 30, 2024, 11:00AM at Waldrep Cemetery, south of Willisville, Arkansas. (When using GPS, Waldrep Cemetery is located in Waldo, Arkansas). Her cousin, Daniel Williams will be officiating the service. Everyone is welcome to join and celebrate Lisa’s life.
